Michael Kosmala of The Canoe Group will be a featured panelist next month at the Arts Education Partnership’s (AEP) Spring 2010 National Forum “States of Change: New Leadership in Arts and Education” on April 9-10 in Washington, DC. Joining arts education leaders from Oregon, Kansas and Arizona onstage, Kosmala will share The Canoe Group’s approaches to Leveraging Technology for advancing the arts and arts education.

Following is a description of the session as provided by AEP:

Readily available technologies have created a shift away from location-specific, live presentations of art to individualized, remote experiences that can be consumed at will. Capitalizing on new possibilities created by technology can inform artists, arts organizations and educators how to reach future generations of art lovers. This session will include a discussion and demonstration of new and emerging technologies, and a forum for attendees to have a dialogue about inventive uses for them. Innovative arts and technology practices from different states will be profiled. The session will conclude with an invitation to share of ideas, and a discussion about a shift in mindset to embrace both our current technologies, and those of our future. Session presenters bring a fresh perspective to arts education management, after successfully fostering new technology usage in their home states.
